General Questions
Q: What do I do with the layouts I design using my computer?
A: There are a few ways to output your layout. One of the most popular is to print them and put them in an album. You can use your own photo printer or send your images to a photo processing shop and get them processed just like a regular photograph. There are a lot of online photo sites that allow you to upload your images/photos/layouts or you can burn your layouts on to a CD and take it in to Walmart, Kinko's or Walgreens. We recommend that you print your layouts on photo paper and that you use a photo quality printer. Another way to share your layouts is to upload the lo-resolution images to an online gallery and then send the link to your distant (or not so distant) friends and family. A nice way to present an album as a gift is to have your layouts printed and bound in a coffee table book or soft-cover album.
Q: Do I need a wide-format printer to print out my layouts?
A: Although most digital kits are based on a 12x12 size format, you can create your layout any size you want. You can design your pages to be 12x12 and print them out 8x8 on your printer - you don't need a wide-format printer. If you do want your pages to be 12x12 you can send them out to be printed. Other popular sizes for layouts are 8x8, 8.5x11 (letter-size), 8x10 and 6x6.
TIP! You can create multiple copies of a gift album by designing 6x6in pages, putting four copies of the layout on a 12x12inch page and getting the 12x12 page printed at a photo place. Then, you'll have four copies of each 6x6 layout which you can cut apart and assemble into four albums!
